Positive thinking

In this day and age we are constantly fighting to ‘get ahead’ and produce results for the greater population and what they may think. The question is what is success? What do you want to achieve?

What happens when all around you goes to hell and everyone is raising their arms in disbelief? Do we soldier on or dwell on the negativities of the given situation?

Positive thinkers and positive minds make the future of our children. As my grandmother used to say it’s not the basket half empty it’s the basket half full.

Many examples of this type of thinking may be relayed into everyday life. The child who is ten paces behind in the one hundred meter sprint with twenty meters to go, and still crosses the line in first place. Did he think he was going to lose? No, he charged on to victory with the thought of harder work ahead of him.

How does the mother of seven children maintain a healthy lifestyle for her offspring? She thinks positively and keeps a calm mind with the thought that it will all work out in the end.

No matter what challenges we may face in life it all comes to one conclusion: If we approach everything with an open and positive mind we have ninety per cent more chance of succeeding at the given task. So what if we don’t? Is life not a mere collage of lessons and failures so as we may learn the correct and adequate way of dealing with our future?

A prime example of this is Albert Einstein. How many times did he try to achieve a tangible explanation of his ‘Theory of Relativity’? If Albert had not taken a positive view on the fact that he was correct in his findings and that eventually he will devise the answer to his questions, we may never be in the world we are today.

To me, the greatest soldier of them all is one who may charge through positively at the feet of any giant. No task too big, no task too small. We may fail but we must endeavour to try again.

How do we think positively?

One must approach all tasks with an open mind and with belief that whatever the consequences may be, it is their destiny to see it through.

Life is a roller coaster and things will go wrong, but the question to ask is not what is wrong, but how may I fix this.

“We stand in life at midnight; we are always on the threshold of a new dawn.” Martin Luther King.
